4x4

Off road and 4x4 vehicles have got to be some of the most impressive and fun to drive forms of transport available. The main difference between 4x4 and normal two wheel drive vehicles is that all four wheels are powered by the engine at once giving much more traction. Powerful low torque engines make it possible to boldly go where other vehicles can’t! For farm work there is nothing quite like a robust, well built 4x4 that can circumnavigate hills, streams, mud and gravel. Whilst just for sheer unadulterated fun pushing a 4x4 to the max is an amazing rush, you’ll be able to do things in a 4x4 you never thought possible while driving a normal car.

To be able to compete in 4x4 events the factory standards in your vehicle may not be enough. Safety is a primary factor in all motor sports and 4x4 is no different. Things like special tyres, roll cages, bucket seats and harnesses may all need to be implemented, as well as things like reinforcing the chassis, windows or bodywork, but you would have to look into the rules to check the regulations for any specific event.

There is a great community of 4x4 drivers, including clubs and events, one of my favourites being the Land Rover Owners club, who are a very friendly group who welcome all to there events.
